REGINA — For the third year in a row, Hospitals of Regina Foundation launched an initiative in collaboration with Sticks & Doodles and students from Regina Public Schools’ École Wilfrid Walker that will deliver joy to patients spending Christmas in Regina’s hospitals.
Every patient who will spend Christmas Day in Regina’s General Hospital, the Pasqua Hospital or the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre was gifted a handcrafted holiday ornament. The ornaments were created and donated by the team at Sticks & Doodles, decorated by the students of École Wilfrid Walker and distributed by Hospitals of Regina Foundation, with the help of hospital staff.
This holiday initiative aims to lift patients’ spirits and spread festive cheer, while serving as a reminder of our community’s care and support for those in need, according to a press release.
“These unique and colourful ornaments reflect the giving spirit of our southern Saskatchewan community during the holiday season,” says Dino Sophocleous, president and CEO, Hospitals of Regina Foundation.
“Spending Christmas Day in hospital rather than at home with family and friends can be difficult. We are proud to partner with Sticks & Doodles and Regina Public Schools’ École Wilfrid Walker for this heartfelt initiative, which is a wonderful example of how working together can impact people who receive care in our hospitals.”
“We are thrilled to partner with the Hospitals of Regina Foundation and Sticks & Doodles to bring warmth and joy to patients during the holiday season,” says Ian Mitchell, principal of École Wilfrid Walker School.
“Through this collaboration, our students and staff at École Wilfrid Walker hope to brighten spirits and share the true meaning of giving.”
“It’s so special to be a part of 1,200 moments that connect students with those in need. It’s such a small gesture that every year seems to have a huge impact. Our team loves being the conduit, providing the medium that connects these groups, and we’re so proud of how much work the kids do every year,” says Kyle Moffatt, founder at Sticks & Doodles.
