PELlCAN NARROWS — A wanted individual was taken into custody in Pelican Narrows following a police operation that involved RCMP specialized units and a temporary containment of a residential area.
According to RCMP, officers observed a known wanted man walking near a residential area in Pelican Narrows on Dec. 17 at approximately 3 p.m. The individual was wanted on multiple charges from both Pelican Narrows RCMP and Prince Albert Police Service, including assault-related offences, weapons and firearms offences, drug-related charges, uttering threats and breaches of court-ordered conditions.
Police confirmed the man was inside a residence on Bear Street and were initially permitted to enter the home. RCMP said the individual threatened officers, prompting them to exit the residence for safety reasons.
Officers secured the surrounding area and requested assistance from Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team. Later in the evening, members of the RCMP Emergency Response Team attended the scene.
At approximately 8 p.m., police efforts resulted in the man exiting the residence, where he was arrested without incident.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, the 23 year old was arrested on outstanding warrants and additionally charged with one count of uttering threats against a person and one count of resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
The accused appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Dec. 19.
