MEADOW LAKE — A Waterhen Lake First Nation man has been sent to jail after violating the terms of his house arrest.
Miles Victor Lasas initially received a Conditional Sentence Order (CSO), or house arrest, on April 10 after being convicted in Meadow Lake Provincial Court of assault with a weapon, driving while prohibited, and obstructing a peace officer. The court-ordered conditions required him to keep the peace, observe a curfew, avoid establishments that sell alcohol, and not possess any firearms or ammunition.
After breaching those conditions, his CSO was suspended by the court on Dec. 24, and he was remanded in custody for 120 days.
In April 2023, separate firearm and drug trafficking charges against Lasas were stayed. Those charges were related to an August 2022 incident in the Flotten Lake area, where police say two armed men assaulted an individual and fired shots.
