REGINA — A routine patrol in the city’s Coronation Park neighbourhood turned into a weapons seizure over the weekend, resulting in numerous charges against a 57-year-old Regina man.
According to Regina Police Service, officers were in the 400 block of Albert Street North shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 3, when they spotted a vehicle connected to a man wanted in a separate investigation. Police observed the vehicle leave a business parking lot and head north on Albert Street.
A short time later, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 6 near Industrial Drive. Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the vehicle, police found a loaded revolver, knives, an axe, a machete, and a bat.
Kelly Christian Jackson was charged with eight weapons-related offences.
He appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Jan. 5.
