SASKATOON — The Saskatchewan Home-Based Educators will hold their annual convention in the city next month, after several years of having it in Regina. The convention is set for Feb. 27 and 28, at the Elim Church on Slimmon Road.
The convention, with the theme Joyfully Together, features author and podcaster Greta Eskridge, a second-generation homeschooler and former high school English teacher, as keynote speaker. Her passion is to encourage parents build a relationship with their kids in an already disconnected world.
The annual SHBE Convention brings together attendees from across the province who are involved in or interested in home-based education, promoting resources through the exhibit hall, professional speakers, and community workshops for both adults and students.
The SHBE hosts the province’s only annual convention for families who homeschool their kids. The convention will have plenary sessions, workshops, a teen program, an exhibit hall, and homeschool completion recognition.
The convention is community-focused, providing resources, encouragement, and a chance to connect for families involved in home education in Saskatchewan.
The SHBE is Saskatchewan’s official voice of home-based educators, helping create a positive social network and political environment for families who choose home-based education for their kids. They provide instructional resources and support to their members.
