CUT KNIFE — The Cut Knife RCMP received 43 calls for service between the dates of Jan. 5 to Jan. 11. These files included well-being checks, reports of disturbances, reports of traffic offences, mischief, assaults, breach of peace, failure to comply with orders, thefts, uttering threats, collisions, and assisting other agencies and the public.
Notable files include:
On Jan. 5, members received a report regarding a red Dodge Caravan with Saskatchewan licence plate 296NZP as stolen. The vehicle showed a history of being pulled over on New Year's in the Prince Albert area, but was not reported stolen at the time. The vehicle is still missing, and the matter remains under investigation.
On Jan. 6, an anonymous complaint was received regarding a vehicle driving erratically in Cut Knife. Members conducted patrols and located a few vehicles matching the description. The driver was found to be impaired, arrested, and subsequently released.
On Jan. 7, the RCMP received multiple complaints of fraudulent calls. The fraud has typically been someone on the phone posing as a grandchild in jail, asking for money to get out. No money was sent. RCMP want to ensure this is not a proper process to get out of jail, to be aware of this scam and not send money to anyone.
On Jan. 11, RCMP responded to a vehicle rollover west of Neilburg due to icy road conditions. The driver was not injured and was given a ride to a safe place.
Twenty-six traffic stops were made, resulting in tickets, warnings, and roadside suspensions. Members dealt with two Mental Health Act calls.
RED SERGE TIP
Scammers love urgency- “Act now”, “Last chance”, “Don’t tell anyone”. Real people and businesses don’t pressure you like a bad infomercial. Slow down, double-check and talk it over with someone you trust before sending any money or information.
