SASKATCHEWAN — The Saskatchewan Highway Hotline as of 7: 30 a.m. Friday was designating roads east of Saskatoon as not recommended for travel due to poor visibility, ice and a new snowfall. Thursday night, the area around Prince Albert was also not recommended for travel, but this morning is being designated as partly covered, and also experiencing ice and swirling, drifting snow.
Roads around Regina were still closed as of 7:30 a.m.
Roads in the Saltcoats-Churchbridge area were also not recommended for travel as of 7:30 a.m.

The poor road conditions developed as much of the southern half of the province experienced strong winds that could cause damage with gusts of up to 100 km/h. The winds were forecast to continue overnight and into Friday morning.
The Highway Hotline notes that conditions can change rapidly and unexpectedly. Motorists should be alert.
SaskAlert says local utility outages are possible, high-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind, and damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible.
