LLOYDMINSTER — Lloydminster RCMP arrested a Calgary woman in connection with a significant ATM theft that occurred in late 2024.
Police were called to an ATM near 39 Avenue and 50 Street around 10 a.m. on Dec. 29, 2024, after receiving a report of a break-and-enter. Investigators determined the machine had been forcibly accessed and more than $130,000 in cash had been stolen. Damage and replacement costs for the ATM were estimated at nearly $30,000.
RCMP say the investigation involved canvassing nearby businesses for video surveillance and obtaining numerous judicial authorizations. Through their investigation, officers identified a suspect.
With help from the Calgary Fugitive Apprehension Team, police located and arrested Mandy Breadlaw, 40, of Calgary. RCMP say Breadlaw was wanted on 26 outstanding warrants at the time of her arrest. She was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in an Alberta court on Jan. 15.
She is charged with break and enter, mischief over $5,000, and theft over $5,000.
“This investigation required a significant commitment of resources and strong collaboration between multiple policing partners,” said Sergeant Christopher Byford, Lloydminster RCMP. “The assistance of local businesses and law enforcement partners was critical in identifying and locating the suspect, which helped to bring this investigation to a successful conclusion.”
Lloydminster RCMP would like to thank those that provided video surveillance, as well as the Calgary Police Service and RCMP Southern Alberta General Investigation Section for their assistance in this investigation.
