SASKATCHEWAN — A powerful winter storm that continues to strike much of Saskatchewan on Jan. 16 has caused issues with the province's power grid.
As of 10 a.m. on Jan. 16, according to the provincial outage map, crews are at the site of a number of outages. They have returned to work and are continuing to investigate the cause and repair time for an outage reported south of Big River and surrounding rural areas.
A couple of locations were without power during the overnight hours, as the storm forced crews to abandon repair efforts. One was a rural area northeast of Kamsack. The other was north of Sedley and surrounding areas. SaskPower was hoping efforts could resume in the morning of Jan. 16.
An emergency outage is scheduled for the Hodgeville area from 9:45-11 a.m. to repair a downed power line.
SaskToday will have updates as they become available.
