BATTLEFORDS – Battlefords RCMP, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan, arrested a man after a break-in and vehicle theft from a business in North Battleford.
On Jan. 14 at approximately 7:30 a.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a business on 99 Street in North Battleford.
The investigation determined a male broke into the business and stole multiple sets of vehicle keys, along with an SUV. A door at the business was also damaged.
As a result of the continued investigation, Battlefords RCMP determined the stolen SUV was in the Glaslyn detachment area. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan were engaged to assist.
Officers located a vehicle matching the stolen SUV’s description on Highway 3, north of Glaslyn. The SUV stopped and police arrested the male driver. The male was in possession of multiple sets of keys and break-in tools at the time of his arrest. The items were seized by police. The SUV was also recovered by police; it was not damaged.
As a result of the continued investigation, a 27-year-old man, from Saulteaux First Nation, is charged with:
- one count, fail to comply with probation order;
- one count, theft of sport utility vehicle;
- two counts, theft under $5,000;
- one count, mischief under $5,000;
- one count, breaking and entering with intent; and
- one count, possess break-in instruments.
The accused appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 15.
