SASKATOON – A trial is scheduled to begin Monday for a Saskatoon man charged in connection to a collision that left one woman dead and three others seriously injured two years ago.
Wylie Gunnar Vermette’s jury trial is being held in Saskatoon Court of King’s Bench. He faces charges of dangerous driving causing death and three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
According to Saskatoon police, on June 11, 2024, Vermette, then 23, was driving at a high rate of speed when his truck hit an SUV in the Hudson Bay Industrial neighbourhood, at Quebec Avenue near 39th Street East.
Four people in the SUV were taken by EMS to hospital in critical condition. A 22-year-old female passenger died in hospital from her injuries.
