ESTEVAN — Members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) apprehended a motorist who they say was impaired by drug.
According to the Jan. 19 police report, a traffic stop was conducted during the nightshift in which the driver was showing signs of impairment. During the stop, the man participated in standardized field sobriety testing and subsequent evaluation by a drug-recognition expert, both of which resulted in poor performances, the EPS said.
The motorist was arrested for impaired driving. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, the EPS said a loaded rifle and prohibited magazine were located. The EPS reported the matter remains under investigation with impaired driving and firearms-related charges pending.
A two-vehicle collision at a business parking lot resulted in both vehicles being towed. Estevan EMS attended the scene and assessed the three occupants involved in the collision. The matter remains under investigation with additional statements and video from the business to be obtained.
EPS members conducted curfew checks on several individuals bound by court-ordered conditions. All those checked were in their approved residences as per their conditions.
Police received a report of a former partner making threats to the complainant’s new boyfriend. The EPS said the matter remains under investigation.
A report was received of an attempted extortion on social media. The suspect has made threats to release videos on social media if the victim does not comply. The matter remains under investigation.
Two separate well-being checks were completed on individuals at the request of friends and family members. The EPS said both individuals were found to be safe and well.
The EPS received a report of a man who was breaching court-ordered conditions of no contact with another person. The matter remains under investigation.
