REGINA — A reported weapons incident in Regina has led to charges against one person.
According to the Regina Police Service, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 21, police responded to a report in the area of 12th Avenue and Quebec Street. The RPS said information indicated a man was walking up and down the street while wielding a large bar. He had reportedly assaulted another individual and was running in front of vehicles.
A press release said officers arrived at the scene and located a man matching the suspect's description. He was taken into custody without incident. The RPS said a search of the suspect, subsequent to his arrest, revealed a knife and several live rounds of ammunition.
The victim of the assault was assessed on scene by EMS for the RPS said appeared to be minor injuries.
As a result of this investigation, a 24-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a probation order, failing to comply with a probation order and carrying a concealed weapon. All charges are under the Criminal Code.
He made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on Jan. 21.
