Just a few weeks ago we had record warmth across the province in January, but this past week proved how quickly conditions can change in Saskatchewan by bringing record cold temperatures to various communities.
A number of records fell on Friday and more records fell Sunday morning across the CKRM listening area. According to yesterday’s readings from Environment Canada, five regions of Saskatchewan experienced a frosty start to the day.
LAST MOUNTAIN LAKE SANCTUARY AREA New record of -38.3 Old record of -36.1 set in 2021 LUCKY LAKE AREA (Lucky Lake) New record of -34.8 Old record of -30.5 set in 2009 NIPAWIN AREA (Nipawin) New record of -41.8 Old record of -40.0 set in 1954 WEYBURN AREA (Weyburn) New record of -34.5 Old record of -34.0 set in 1982 YORKTON AREA (Yorkton) New record of -39.2 Key Lake in northern Saskatchewan, also set a record of -48.5C, surpassing -46.7 in 2021. This week's forecast is indicating temperatures will be rising to what's more normal for this time of year.
