SASKATOON — A 53-year-old Cudworth woman charged in connection with a six-figure fraud made her first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Jan. 28.
Rebecca Mary Steele is accused of misappropriating more than $340,000 from a Saskatoon business where she provided bookkeeping services. Her matter was adjourned to Feb. 17, when she is expected to enter an election.
According to Saskatoon Police Service, the charges stem from a lengthy investigation by the SPS Economic Crime Section. Police said they received a report on June 19, 2025, from business owners who believed large sums of money had been diverted from company accounts.
Police say the funds were used for personal expenses and significant purchases, including a Ford F-150. In December 2025, police charged Steele with fraud over $5,000 and trafficking in proceeds of crime over $5,000.
