FLYING DUST FIRST NATION — Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team (CRT), with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, seized 10 firearms and methamphetamine at a residential property on Flying Dust First Nation.
On Jan. 27, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake CRT and Critical Incident Response Team obtained a warrant and searched a residential property on Flying Dust First Nation as part of an ongoing drug trafficking and firearms investigation.
During the search, officers located approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine, five long guns, four airguns, a prohibited firearm, ammunition, knives, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. A man and two women were arrested at the residence.
As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Lennex Merasty-Morin, from Flying Dust First Nation, is charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized;
- one count, weapons possession contrary to order;
- two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- one count, possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition without licence/registration; and
- two counts, unsafe storage of firearms.
The two women were released from police custody without charges.
The accused appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Jan. 28.
