SASKATOON — A 25-year-old woman is facing several charges after Saskatoon police tracked down a vehicle reported stolen out of Prince Albert.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Feb. 6, officers were alerted that a vehicle reported stolen to the Prince Albert Police Service was believed to be in Saskatoon. The vehicle was spotted heading west on Circle Drive across the Gordie Howe Bridge.
Police attempted a traffic stop but the driver fled. Officers on the ground disengaged while the Air Support Unit monitored the vehicle from above. A tire deflation device was used at Circle Drive and 11th Street West, disabling the vehicle.
Police say the driver continued a short distance before fleeing on foot into an alley off Avenue T South. She was arrested with the help of a police service dog and taken to hospital for treatment of injuries consistent with a dog bite.
The woman is charged with evading police, operating a vehicle with disregard for public safety, driving while prohibited, theft of a vehicle, and two counts of failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
