LLOYDMINSTER — A preliminary hearing has been set for a 25-year-old Thurnderchild First Nation woman accused of killing Tonio Cantell, 28, of Big Island Lake First Nation.
Madison Paddy-Jimmy, charged with second-degree murder, appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Feb. 9, where her preliminary hearing was set for June.
Court records show Paddison-Jimmy also faces several unrelated, older charges. She is scheduled to return to Lloydminster court in March on charges that include assault, obstruction of a peace officer, and numerous counts of failing to appear in court and breach of release conditions. Some of those charges date back to 2022.
Cantell was one of three men found dead at a rural property near Turtleford on Nov. 5, 2025. Turtleford RCMP said they received a report of three people injured at approximately 12:30 p.m. that day. Officers found the three men with serious injuries and attempted life-saving measures, but EMS who attended the scene declared all three men dead.
Paddy-Jimmy was arrested in Turtleford later that day. RCMP haven’t released the names of the other two victims, and she is currently charged only with Cantell’s death.
