Friday night in the SJHL had a little bit of everything — streaks snapped, streaks extended, overtime drama — and across five games and 29 total goals, there was just one player who scored more than once.
That honour belonged to Melfort’s Dru Mushumanski.
Here’s how it all unfolded around the league.
Melfort Mustangs 3 (OT)
Humboldt Broncos 2
Overtime belonged to one man.
Dru Mushumanski scored twice — the only multi-goal performance in the SJHL on Friday night — including the overtime winner to lift Melfort past Humboldt 3-2.
In a tightly contested battle, Mushumanski delivered when it mattered most, finishing off the Broncos in the extra frame and extending the Mustangs’ winning streak to four games.
While other teams spread the scoring around Friday, Mushumanski stood alone as the league’s only two-goal scorer — and his second tally was the biggest of the night.
Weyburn Red Wings 5
Melville Millionaires 2
The Red Wings finally found some February sunshine.
Weyburn snapped a four-game losing skid — and picked up its first win of the month — by scoring three times in the second period to pull away from Melville.
After a tight opening 20 minutes, the Red Wings took control in the middle frame, turning a close contest into a two-goal cushion they wouldn’t surrender. It was the type of response Weyburn desperately needed as they tried to keep pace in the Bunge Division race.
For Melville, the slide continues. The Millionaires have now dropped four straight and are searching for traction as the playoff push tightens.
Yorkton Terriers 7
Warman Wolverines 2
The Terriers are officially on a heater.
Yorkton won its eighth straight game — and ninth in its last 10 — with a convincing 7-2 victory over Warman. And they did it with balance.
Seven different Terriers lit the lamp, showcasing the depth that has turned them into one of the league’s most dangerous teams down the stretch. Wave after wave, Yorkton kept coming.
The win gives the Terriers a four-point cushion on Weyburn atop the Bunge Division, and right now, they look every bit like a team that believes first place is theirs to keep.
Kindersley Klippers 4
Flin Flon Bombers 1
Kindersley made a statement.
The Klippers handed Flin Flon its first regulation loss in 10 games with a solid 4-1 win on home ice. Four different Kindersley players found the back of the net as the Klippers extended their own unbeaten run to three games.
For the Bombers, it’s a rare blemish in what has otherwise been a strong stretch. But on this night, Kindersley controlled the pace and capitalized on its chances.
Battlefords North Stars 5
La Ronge Ice Wolves 1
The North Stars wasted no time.
Battlefords scored five straight goals to open the game and effectively decided it before the Ice Wolves could settle in. Five different North Stars contributed to the outburst as they cruised to a 5-1 win.
La Ronge has now dropped four in a row and continues to search for answers, while Battlefords showed just how dangerous they can be when they get rolling early.
On a night dominated by balance and depth, Dru Mushumanski’s two-goal performance — capped by an overtime dagger — stood alone.
That’s Friday night in the SJHL.
