SASKATOON — A Saskatoon man arrested after police seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, opioid pills and multiple firearms during searches at homes in Saskatoon and Radisson remains in custody.
Chad Mason, 38, had a bail hearing set for Feb. 12 in Saskatoon Provincial Court. He was remanded, and the hearing is now scheduled for Feb. 26.
Mason faces three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine, fentanyl, and opioid), 16 counts of possession of a weapon contrary to an order, three counts of possession of a firearm when knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a restricted firearm with readily available ammunition, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, two counts of failing to comply with release order conditions, three counts of careless storage of a firearm, and possession of property less than $5,000 obtained by crime.
The charges stem from a Jan. 13 investigation. Members of the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team – Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF), supported by the Saskatoon Police Service Tactical Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on 8th Street East in Saskatoon as part of an ongoing drug-trafficking investigation. Police say they seized approximately 231 grams of fentanyl, 115 grams of methamphetamine, more than 40 opioid pills, a firearm, ammunition, drug trafficking paraphernalia and cash. Six people were arrested at the home.
Later that day, investigators executed a second search warrant at a residence on Goodrich Street in Radisson. Officers located a sawed-off firearm, a handgun, ammunition and two firearm magazines.
