Longtime Saskatchewan Roughriders’ long-snapper Jorgen Hus has a decision to make about his CFL playing future.
“Ongoing with Jorgen. He‘s trying to evaluate whether he wants to play again or not. He’s got off-field stuff that he does as well,” general manager Jeremy O’Day said.
The 36-year-old is the longest-tenured Riders player. He’s dressed in 166 games with the Green and White since his rights were acquired via trade from Edmonton in 2015. The six-foot, 245-pound athlete has recorded 25 special teams tackles and one fumble recovery in his three-down league career.
Hus earned the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award in 2024 and won a Grey Cup championship with the Roughriders in 2025.
The Elks selected him in the fourth round, 31st overall, during the 2013 CFL Draft, but he spent the first three years in his pro career in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and Kansas City Chiefs. The Saskatoon native played in the Canadian Junior Football League for the Saskatoon Hilltops and then at the University of Regina for three seasons as a linebacker and long-snapper.
If Hus did retire, O’Day said the Riders would have to go and find another long-snapper.
“We don’t have anyone in-house,” O’Day said. “It would be us reaching out to somebody else and bringing in a different one.”
