CANADA — A recall has been issued by Health Canada for two Patchwork and Pine Inc. products: Balm B’Y lip balm in bubblegum flavour and Dildo Brewing Co. & Museum’s sea salt & fog artisan beer soap.
The recall was made after Health Canada determined that both of these products contain prohibited ingredients as per Health Canada’s Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist. The lip balm contains dioxane, which is prohibited due to its possible carcinogenic effect, while the soap contains benzyl cyanide, and has the potential to release cyanide.
It is estimated that approximately 60 units of the bubblegum-flavoured lip balm were sold between June 2023 and January 2026. Roughly 240 units of the sea salt and fog artisan beer soap were sold from June 2023 to November 2024.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and dispose of them in their regular household garbage. All customer inquiries and refund requests will be handled by Patchwork and Pine Inc., based in Roaches Line, N.L., by email at patchworkandpine@gmail.com.
