REGINA — The community of White City has expanded.
The town has been approved by the Municipal Relations Division to annex roughly 200 hectares of land from the RM of Edenwold, effective Feb. 1.
In a statement, White City Mayor Mitch Simpson said the boundary change helps the community grow responsibly.
“It gives us the room we need to grow in a thoughtful way, with space for new homes, future development and the amenities to support a strong community.”
White City received a formal boundary request from the registered landowner on July 9, 2025.
Over the next few months, multiple public meetings were held to gather written and verbal feedback from residents of White City and the RM of Edenwold.
After consultation, RM of Edenwold’s council passed a complementary resolution supporting the boundary alteration in December.
“When municipalities work together like this, it sets the stage for smart growth and long-term success for the entire region,” said Simpson.
As part of the process, both of the municipal councils passed a negotiated voluntary restructuring agreement between the two areas.
Since White City has incorporated new land, the town’s future land use map has been updated. The new land has been designated as “future urban residential”, aligning with the RM’s of Edenwold’s land use map.
White City officials say the town will continue working with the RM on future land use planning.
