MEADOW LAKE — Two men charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences were remanded in custody following their Feb. 18 appearances in Buffalo River Dene Nation circuit court.
Deng Deng and Kuol Kuol, who are both 21 and from Calgary, Alta., are scheduled to return to court on March 18 for a bail hearing. Deng’s matter was adjourned to allow him time to obtain counsel.
The charges stem from a Dec. 4, 2025 arrest after Dillon RCMP, assisted by Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team, executed a search warrant at a home on Buffalo River Dene Nation. Officers located and seized approximately 484 grams of cocaine, a large sum of cash, a loaded handgun with the serial number removed and a rifle.
Both men are charged with possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, tampering with the serial number of a firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts each of careless use of a firearm and possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized.
Deng is also charged with possession of weapons contrary to a court order. Kuol faces four counts of failing to comply with release conditions and obstructing a peace officer.
