ESTEVAN — A southeast Saskatchewan man who has more than two dozen charges before the court is going to remain in custody until his upcoming trial.
Zachary Christopher Hillis appeared in Estevan Provincial Court on Feb. 20 for the continuation of show-cause hearing that began Feb. 13, but had to be halted so attorneys could get more information on one of Hillis’ more recent charges.
Rather than having the bail hearing resume on Feb. 20, Hillis agreed to a consent remand in which he will remain in custody until he is scheduled to stand trial on some of his matters on March 5. He will speak to other charges that day.
Hillis has matters before the court from both southeast Saskatchewan and the Swift Current area.
He has been in custody since he was arrested Feb. 10 by members of the Estevan-Carnduff RCMP in connection with a break and enter in Carnduff in January.
