YORKTON – The Yorkton Film Festival is inviting emerging filmmakers to apply for its 2026 RBC YFF Mentorship Program, supported by the RBC Foundation.
Applications are now open with organizers describing the initiative as a participant-driven program designed to connect up-and-coming creators with established industry professionals. The goal is to provide high-level advice, mentorship and networking opportunities to help develop talent within Canada’s creative industries.
YFF executive director Randy Goulden said the festival is pleased to continue its partnership with RBC Foundation as the program moves forward under a renewed two-year sponsorship.
"We are ecstatic to continue moving forward with RBC Foundation and the generous support they’ve provided over the years to continue to deliver this program," Goulden said. "Being able to play a role in identifying and supporting emerging talent throughout our country has been such a rewarding experience, not only for our mentees, but for the mentors and for us as well."
Daniel Edwards, RBC regional vice-president, said access to industry connections and guidance remains a challenge for many new filmmakers.
"Many emerging filmmakers face real barriers when it comes to building industry connections and accessing mentorship and resources," Edwards said. "The YFF Mentorship Program, supported by RBC Foundation, plays an important role in helping diverse talent gain the tools, confidence and exposure they need to succeed."
The program includes 46 hours of mentorship and guidance, delivered through a mix of in-person and digital sessions between participants and their assigned mentors.
The application deadline for the 2026 program is March 31. Selected applicants will be notified no later than April 21.
Successful participants will also have the opportunity to attend and take part in the 2026 Yorkton Film Festival, scheduled for May 20 to May 24.
