SASKATOON — Police arrested two men Friday night after a vehicle fled a traffic stop in Saskatoon’s Pleasant Hill neighbourhood.
Officers on patrol around 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 20 observed a vehicle travelling without headlights in the 900 block of 22nd Street West. When police attempted a traffic stop, the driver accelerated away at high speed trying to evade police.
A tire deflation device was used near Avenue P North and 23rd Street West but the driver of the vehicle continued to flee. The pursuit ended on Circle Drive near Clancy Drive, where a police vehicle was used to immobilize the vehicle.
Police arrested its occupants without further incident.
A search of the passenger located a knife.
A 27-year-old man has been charged with evading police and dangerous driving. The passenger, a 29-year-old man, has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
