REGINA — Average retail gasoline prices in Regina have not moved in the past week, averaging 124.52 c/L Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 82 gas outlets in Regina.
This compares with the national average that has increased 3.4 c/L in the last week to 132.25 c/L, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
“Average gasoline prices in Canada have moved several cents per litre higher over the past week, led by British Columbia where disruptions along the Olympic Pipeline played a significant role in tightening regional supply,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Crude oil continues to trade near its highest level since last summer as mounting geopolitical risk premiums tied to escalating tensions between the United States and Iran keep markets on edge. While there has been no direct disruption to global energy infrastructure, traders are increasingly pricing in the possibility of a broader exchange that could threaten supply flows. As refinery maintenance ramps up and seasonal supply tightens, upward pressure is likely to persist, leaving the national average vulnerable to additional gains in the weeks ahead.”
