Officers were called around 3:30 p.m. to Midtown Mall in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South for a report of a robbery in progress. Police learned an individual had brandished a hatchet and threatened employees while attempting to leave with unpaid merchandise.
A short time later, patrol officers located someone matching the suspect description walking in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue North. When approached, the youth fled into a nearby buiding. Officers arrested him after a brief physical struggle, and a hatchet was recovered.
