MOSQUITO GRIZZLY BEAR'S HEAD LEAN MAN FIRST NATION – Update, Feb. 25: Battlefords RCMP have arrested wanted man Lonnie Moosomin on Feb. 7 on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation.
He is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on March 9.
Original post, Jan. 15: Battlefords RCMP have arrested one man, while one man is wanted after an assault.
On Jan. 12 at around 1:30 a.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an armed individual at a residence on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation.
RCMP officers responded. The investigation determined that two males assaulted an individual at a residence. The individual reported non-life-threatening injuries to police.
One of the males then threatened occupants with a firearm and discharged it inside the residence. No one reported physical injuries related to the firearm discharge.
Battlefords RCMP, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft System and Police Dog Services, located and arrested one of the suspects nearby.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old man, from Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation, is charged with:
- one count, reckless discharge of firearm;
- two counts, pointing a firearm;
- one count, uttering threats;
- one count, assault
- one count, resist/obstruct peace officer;
- four counts, weapons/firearms possession contrary to order;
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized;
- one count, possession of firearm in a motor vehicle; and
- one count, possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition.
The accused appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 13.
As a result of the continued investigation, 35-year-old Lonnie Moosomin is charged with one count, assault.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Battlefords RCMP are actively working to locate him. They are asking the public to report sightings and information on his whereabouts.
Lonnie Moosomin is described as:
- Height: 5 ft 7 in
- Weight: 132 lbs
- Eye colour: brown
- Hair colour: black
