REGINA — A man originally charged with first-degree murder in the death of Aron Daniel Adam Lunan has been sentenced to 3,656 days in prison – about 10 years – after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
Tyler Wayne Edwards was sentenced in Regina Provincial Court on Feb. 26. Prosecutors withdrew the first-degree murder charge and replaced it with a manslaughter. He was also given a life-time weapons ban and ordered to provide his DNA to the National DNA Data Bank.
RCMP say Lunan’s body was found in a rural area near Grand Coulee, Sask., around 7:25 a.m. on June 10, 2025. Regina Police Service took over the police investigation after it was determined Lunan was killed in Regina.
Lunan had been working with a counsellor in Regina trying to get his life on track before he was killed, his father Allan Lunan, said. Described as a devoted musician and outdoorsman, Aron loved playing guitar and drums, singing, and dirt biking with his father and brother. Allan recalled his son’s steady support, especially during Allan’s battle with COVID-19 in 2021.
Three others were also charged in connection with Lunan’s death, including Kayla Mitton, Britain Volk, and Patrick Akapew. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for June for Apakew and September for Mitton.
