MONTREAL LAKE CREE NATION – Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit are investigating a homicide on Montreal Lake Cree Nation.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) is asking for the public’s assistance following a homicide on Montreal Lake Cree Nation.
On March 1 at approximately 2:25 a.m., Montreal Lake RCMP received a report of an injured person at a residence on Montreal Lake Cree Nation.
Officers responded immediately and located an injured woman. They began providing medical attention. EMS arrived and declared the woman dead at the scene. Officers determined her death was suspicious. Saskatchewan RCMP’s HIU took charge of the investigation.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Tanya Roberts from Montreal Lake Cree Nation. Her family has been notified and Victims Services made available to them.
Investigators, with assistance from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, have determined that Roberts' death is a homicide. Saskatchewan RCMP’s HIU continues to investigate. As this is an active and ongoing investigation, police say they are unable to provide further details at this time.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about Roberts' death to report it to Montreal Lake RCMP by dialling 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
Updates will be provided when possible. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, police say they will notify the public.
