LLOYDMINSTER — The case against a semi-truck charged after Lloydminster RCMP seized about 8.8 million unstamped cigarettes was back in Lloydminster Court of Justice on March 3.
Gurjant Singh, 34, is charged with fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime valued over $5,000, unlawful possession of tobacco products, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of more than 1,000 cigarettes, and importing tobacco.
Singh didn’t appear in court, and a remote appearance order was issued at defence’s request. His matter was adjourned to April for election and plea.
He was charged in November 2025 after a routine traffic stop led Lloydminster RCMP to discover about 8.8 million unstamped cigarettes in his vehicle. Police estimate the contraband’s street value at $7.65 million.
