SASKATOON — Saskatoon police arrested a second man in the Feb. 3 death of Kiefer Kichemonia-Strongquill.
A 26-year-old man is charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault and is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court Wednesday afternoon.
Avyn Ahenakew,18, is also charged in connection to Kichemonia-Strongquill’s death. Ahenakew was initially charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault, but those charges were withdrawn and replaced with accessory after the fact to manslaughter, accessory after the fact to aggravated assault involving a second victim, public mischief, and obstruction of justice for falsley confessing to Kichemonia-Strongquill's death.
Kichemonia-Strongquill was Saskatoon’s first homicide victim of 2026. Police say two 25-year-old men were brought to St. Paul’s Hospital with stab wounds on Feb. 3. One of the men later died from his injuries. The second man remains in stable condition.
According to his obituary, Kichemonia-Strongquill was studying at Sask Polytech and had a strong interest in mechanics. He enjoyed playing Roblox online with his daughters and is remembered as a devoted father.
