SASKATOON — A 25-year-old man has been charged in connection with a downtown shooting that left a man wounded in the fall of 2025.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said Monday they arrested Demitrius Standingready on March 9 following an investigation by the SPS Serious Assault Unit. He is charged with aggravated assault.
The charge stems from an incident on Sept. 28, 2025. At about 2:15 a.m., members of the SPS Bike Unit were patrolling downtown when they came across a man lying on the sidewalk as a commotion unfolded around him. Officers discovered he had been shot in the chest.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the shooting is believed to have happened in the area of 2nd Avenue South and 21st Street East.
