PRINCE ALBERT — A 53-year-old man has died following a house fire in Prince Albert late Saturday night.
Emergency crews were called to a home in the 1900 block of 13th Street West at about 10:24 p.m. on March 7 for a report of a structure fire. Initial information indicated someone might be trapped in the basement.
Prince Albert Fire Department members entered the home and found the man inside. He was taken to Victoria Hospital by Parkland Ambulance in serious condition, where he later died.
An 87-year-old woman was also inside the home at the time of the fire. Police say she escaped before officers arrived and was taken to hospital in stable condition.
The Prince Albert Police Service, Prince Albert Fire Department, and Saskatchewan Coroners Service is continuing to investigate this incident. Officials say further updates will be released as the investigation progresses or once it’s complete.
