ROCHE PERCEE — The Village of Roche Percee is creating awareness of a theft from the pierced rock formation just outside the community.
In a post on its Facebook page, the village reported someone stole a flag just added to the site. Roche Percee Mayor Jay Riedel said it is U.S. flag that was added because the Seventh Cavalry had a history at the rocks. With new highway signage, council decided it wants to welcome U.S. travellers.
A Canadian flag is also at the site.
The Facebook post noted the theft is a criminal offence, with potential charges including theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and mischief to property.
Riedel noted the village is trying to create awareness of the situation so the culprit might regret their actions.
