SMEATON — A 36-year-old woman from Prince Albert has died following a two-vehicle collision north of Smeaton.
Nipawin RCMP are investigating the fatal crash, which occurred March 10 at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Highway 106, about 40 kilometres north of Smeaton.
Officers responded immediately along with local fire crews, EMS and STARS air ambulance.
The investigation determined an SUV and a tractor-trailer unit collided. A passenger in the SUV was declared dead by EMS at the scene. Police said her family has been notified.
A second passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital by STARS with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The driver and a third passenger in the SUV were transported to hospital by EMS with injuries also described as non-life-threatening.
The driver of the tractor-trailer did not report physical injuries to police.
Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate with assistance from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers with the Provincial Protective Services Branch also assisted in the response.
