The rush to see motion pictures that have nominations for the Academy Awards, the Oscars if you will, is Saturday night or at the latest Sunday afternoon. Have you tried to take in as many movies as possible before the Oscars are handed out? As movie lovers, you want to be informed and understand the nomination. OR maybe you just want to see what your favourite actor or actress is wearing. Who will take home the most awards, who’s going to have the most emotional or political speech. Which star will have a wardrobe malfunction. Can you imagine being invited to the Academy Awards as a plus one. WHAT DO I WEAR!!??
“putting on the dog” might be the phrase used for nominees or guests of the show that aren’t used to being draped in designer clothing. Remember Adam Sandler showed up at an awards show staying close to his “schtick” dressed in baggy board shorts and hoodie. The Red Carpet attire for women is different than what you see worn once seated at the Dolby Theatre. But of course, because most of the designer fashions reported on is impossible to sit in for 4 or 5 hours. I suppose it is part of the wonder of Hollywood. Oh, and lucky you, a new outfit for the after party!
Parties! Parties and more mingling with stars at various events. Elton John’s Viewing Party, the Vanity Fair bash, Madonna and Beyonce each throw bashes. Tabloid publications and shows have a hay day going through all the photos, the body language and coupling that takes place over this entire week. It is celebrity OVER LOAD. But there is one other thing that is garish and we lap that up too. How are the A-listers treated as per food, drink and gifts.

Take no notice to the lavish life that we will see unfold before us on Sunday night. After all actors are just like us. They put in long hours and deal with many heavy moments, some just live a bit louder than the rest. Grab your popcorn, kick back and have some fun on Sunday night! And try to make it to the actual theatre to see your favourite flick the way it was meant to be viewed, uninterrupted with other movie goers.
