Man charged after weapons, cocaine, meth seized on Thunderchild FN

THUNDERCHILD FIRST NATION —Turtleford RCMP have charged a man after weapons and illicit drugs were seized.

Turtleford RCMP have charged a male with more than 20 offences after seizing firearms, weapons, methamphetamine, crack cocaine and cocaine from a residence on Thunderchild First Nation.

On March 4, Turtleford RCMP executed a search warrant at the residence as part of an ongoing investigation.

Officers located and seized:

– a loaded handgun;

– an illegally-modified firearm;

– numerous firearm parts, including a loaded barrel that was capable of firing;

– thousands of rounds of ammunition;

– a butterfly knife;

– nun chucks;

– approximately 400 grams of suspected methamphetamine;

– approximately 33 grams of crack cocaine; and

– approximately 26 grams of suspected cocaine.

As a result of the continued investigation, a 37-year-old man, from Thunderchild First Nation, is charged with:

– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine);

– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (crack cocaine);

– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine);

– one count, trafficking (methamphetamine);

– one count, trafficking (crack cocaine);

– one count, trafficking (cocaine);

– two counts, possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition;

– three counts, unauthorized possession of a firearm;

– three counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;

– three counts, unsafe storage of a firearm;

– one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;

– three counts, possession of a weapon contrary to order; and

– one count, tampering with a serial number.

The accused is already in custody; he was arrested on March 2 on an outstanding warrant with the assistance from Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team.

The suspect is scheduled to next appear in St. Walburg Court on March 17.
