SASKATOON — A police pursuit that started in Saskatoon shortly after midnight stretched more than 90 kilometres northwest before ending near Maymont, where RCMP brought the fleeing vehicle to a stop.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) say officers attempted to pull over a blue Chevrolet Silverado at about 12:30 a.m. on March 18 in the west side at 22nd Street West and Confederation Drive. The driver accelerated away at a high speed, leaving the city within minutes.
Since the truck continued beyond the city limits, SPS Air Support Unit tracked it from above as it travelled along Highway 16.
Members of the Saskatchewan RCMP successfully used a tire deflation device near Maymont and arrested the suspect.
The 53-year-old man was brought back to SPS cells and charged with evading police. He was also found to have several outstanding warrants.
