The Regina Red Sox continue to add to their roster ahead of the 2026 season, announcing three new signings on the offensive side of the ball.
Infielder Lance Anderson, infielder Mason Canter, and outfielder Ty Martinez are all set to join the club this summer as the Red Sox look to build depth across the diamond.
Anderson, a junior at Little Rock, brings a strong defensive résumé to Regina. The Boise, Idaho product has built a reputation as a reliable shortstop, earning NWAC Gold Glove honours twice during his time at Columbia Basin CC, along with a spot on the 2024 ABCA All-Region Defensive Team.
At the plate, Anderson has shown consistency, hitting .292 over two seasons, including a .322 campaign in 2025 while adding speed on the bases with 45 stolen bases.
“Lance is a quality baseball player who brings a high level of baseball IQ and savvy to our club,” said Red Sox manager Rye Pothakos. “He’s the kind of leader you want both on and off the field.”
Martinez could provide a major boost in the middle of the lineup. The Utah product is in the middle of a standout junior season at Keiser, hitting .351 with four home runs and 25 RBI through 25 games, along with a 1.195 OPS.
Known for his discipline at the plate, Martinez has drawn plenty of walks and limited strikeouts, while also bringing experience from previous stops at UNC Asheville and Southern Virginia. During his time at Southern Virginia, he was named USA South Rookie of the Year and earned all-conference honours.
“Ty profiles as a true middle-of-the-order bat for us,” Pothakos said. “He has the ability to hit for power, drive in runs, and still maintain a strong average.”
Meanwhile, Canter adds a younger piece to the infield. The freshman at Nicholls State is a left-handed hitter with versatility, capable of playing across the infield after developing at Covenant Christian Academy and competing with Team Louisiana.
“From everything we’ve heard, Mason is an exceptional defender who can handle all three infield positions with confidence,” Pothakos said. “We think he’s going to be a very exciting player for our fans to watch.”
With the latest additions, the Red Sox continue to shape their roster as they gear up for the 2026 WCBL campaign.
