A few exhibitors from Canada's Farm Show had positive feedback about last week's event at REAL District in Regina.
One of them was the event being held in March. This year was the second time Canada's Farm Show was held this month since changing it from June.
"They're trying to reinvent themselves a little bit and I think that was a good choice," said Trent Hack, Bunge's Regional Marketing Manager based out of Moose Jaw. "It's spring time, people getting spring fever so lots of good conversations on growers' upcoming seeding plans. Just a real good spring time vibe."
"We like the timing," said Page Newton, a Southern Saskatchewan Territory Manager for Canterra Seeds. "We're happy to hear it's moving a little earlier next year. A lot of farmers are hauling grain right now so I think attendance could be a little higher if they weren't on the road hauling their product to elevators but again, we're really excited and happy to be here."
"It's early enough that farmers aren't in the fields and they come and see it before they get to the field," said Myles Clayton, one of the owners of Rosetown-based Road Boss Grader. "That's where June was starting to be a little bit harder for them, they're out in the fields doing their spraying and whatever else."
Clayton said he misses the days when the show – previously known as the Farm Progress Show – was held outside, but understands that things change over time.
Another was on attendance. Some exhibitors believed the number of people who came to Canada's Farm Show was greater compared to the previous year.
One of them was owner of Alberta-based Ursa Ag Tractor Doug Wilson.
"This year, this Farm Show has been excellent. Lot more traffic than we had last year. Better attendance overall I think for the show and lots of good interest in our product, it was well worth the trip." said Wilson.
"Got to see a lot of familiar faces and some new ones in the area," said Carson Clarke, a Crop Solutions Lead with Bayer Crop Science. "Great chance to connect with the growers."
Clayton said the crowds were slow to start but eventually picked up over time.
Bunge, Canterra Seeds, Bayer Crop Science, and Road Boss Grader were located in the Bunge International Trade Centre, where a lot of the traffic was generated.
Ursa Ag Tractors was located in the Avana Centre on the west side of REAL District, near the Trade Centre.
Next year's Canada's Farm Show is scheduled for March 9-11, 2027.
