1. Melville and Yorkton Trade Blows in Highway 10 Quarter-Final
The Melville Millionaires opened the series with a 4–1 road win over the Yorkton Terriers Friday, fueled by Preston Baerwald, Kale Margolis, and a strong 40 save performance from goalie Matthew Spencer-Dahl. Yorkton answered back Saturday with a 4–1 win of their own, powered by special teams, including William Leonard’s decisive power-play goal and Thomas Ries’ shorthanded tally. The series shifts back to Melville for Games 3 and 4 this week.
2. Red Wings and Hawks split openers
Weyburn jumped out to a 4–2 win over Nipawin Friday, highlighted by Will Munro’s four-point night and Joey Rocha’s 40-save performance. Nipawin bounced back at home Saturday, dominating 5–1 behind Jack Janzen’s two goals and 40 saves from Gage Roberts. The series heads to Weyburn for Games 3 and 4.
3. Flin Flon Bombers Take Control Over Bruins
Flin Flon opened strong with a 5–0 shutout Friday, led by Sam Ward’s two goals and goaltender Charlie Tritt. Game 2 went to double overtime, with Maverick Deslisle scoring 1:45 into the second OT to secure a 4–3 victory. Tritt stopped 39 shots, while Nathan Kam made an incredible 61 saves in the loss. Bombers now hold a 2–0 series lead heading to Estevan.
4. North Stars defend home ice against defending champs
The Battlefords North Stars stunned defending champions Melfort 4–2 Friday and protected home ice with a 3–2 Game 2 win Saturday. Kaeden Serpa was outstanding in goal both nights, making 40 and 41 saves respectively. Owen Nelson scored the eventual game-winner Saturday, giving North Stars a 2–0 series lead.
5. “Be a Fan, Not a Fanatic”: SJHL Launches Fan Conduct Campaign
The league is reinforcing expectations after incidents during opening weekend, reminding fans to respect players, coaches, and officials. Commissioner Kyle McIntyre emphasized that passion is welcome — but abuse and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
6. SJHL Alumni Shine as SAIT Trojans Capture ACAC Championship
Ten former SJHL players helped lead the SAIT Trojans to the ACAC title over Red Deer, who featured 14 SJHL alumni. The Trojans with SJHL connections included Cory King, Colby Bear, Tate Schofer, Owen Underhill, Hayden Prosofsky, Colby Ball, Tanner Gold, Cooper Algajer, Carter Briltz and Brett Butz, highlighting the strength of Saskatchewan’s junior development system.
