REGINA — A 33-year-old man is facing charges after an early-morning break and enter at a business in the North Central area Monday.
Police responded around 4:25 a.m. on March 23 after an alarm sounded at a property in the 3000 block of Dewdney Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a human-sized hole in a rear fence and heard footsteps coming from the roof of the building.
A search of the building turned up no one inside, but officers later found a suspect hiding in a chimney stack on an adjacent structure. Police say they warned the man that a police dog would be deployed if he refused to surrender. When he resisted arrest, the dog was used to help arrest him.
EMS was called to assess the suspect for what appeared to be minor injuries consistent with a dog bite, and the suspect was taken to hospital for further evaluation.
The man was charged with four counts of break, enter and theft.
He appeared in Regina court on March 23.
