REGINA — A cheap, affordable way for Saskatchewan Roughriders fans to attend home games is coming back.
The football club, in collaboration with co-op have announced the return of the Co-op Community Zone on Tuesday.
“This partnership gives our members an incredible opportunity to purchase the lowest price ticket in the stadium for $20 at any of the participating Co-ops throughout Saskatchewan,” said Brad DeLorey, director, communications and public relations of Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL).
The community zone is a designated area of nearly 2,000 seats introduced last fall, which saw great success, said DeLorey.
"We did the last two games of the season, and then we're fortunate to be able to participate with the playoff game. And in all cases, the tickets were highly in demand, sold out right across the board with our Saskatchewan co-ops.”
Selling tickets across the province can also break down barriers for people, noted DeLorey.
“[This] really allows our members the ease and access to acquire a ticket at a very affordable price.”
Normally, the lowest ticket prices for a Roughrider game are roughly $50 for standard seats.
The $20 designated ticket prices will apply to all home games, excluding the Labour Day game, which will be $30.
The partnership had been previously announced to last until 2028.
DeLorey didn’t rule out any possibilities of expanding the partnership.
“We work very closely alongside the Riders on this, so we evaluate every year.”
He also said the FCL will always explore other similar partnerships with sports teams across Western Canada.
