REGINA — The Sask. Party government has passed a key motion Thursday on the 2026 provincial budget.
The main motion, calling for the assembly to approve in general the budgetary policy of the government, passed Thursday by a 33-19 vote, with the Sask Party majority voting in favour and the NDP against.
As well, a tacked-on amendment motion moved by Trent Wotherspoon that the assembly has lost confidence in the government has been defeated.
The vote means the government is able to move forward with its 2026 budget handed down on March 18 by Finance Minister Jim Reiter.
Throughout this past week, budget debate has been ongoing at the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly, with MLAs speaking on the budget throughout the week.
Thursday morning after remarks in the assembly from Leader of the Opposition Carla Beck and Premier Scott Moe, Finance Minister Reiter wrapped up the debate prior to the vote.
