The Yorkton Terriers are moving on.
The Terriers advanced to the second round of the SJHL playoffs with a 4–1 win over the Melville Millionaires in Game 6 Monday night, capturing the best-of-seven quarter-final series in six games.
A physical, tightly contested opening period set the tone, with both teams generating power-play chances but unable to break through.
The Terriers struck first early in the second, as Gavin Bartha notched his fourth of the postseason to make it 1–0. Melville answered midway through the frame, with Hudson Binder tying the game at 1–1.
Yorkton responded immediately.
Just 14 seconds later, Thomas Ries restored the lead with his third of the playoffs. The Terriers carried the play through the middle frame, outshooting the Millionaires 15–10.
In the third period, Yorkton had two goals waved off following review, but Ries eventually provided the insurance, scoring his second of the night and fourth of the postseason to extend the lead to 3–1.
Brett Buckley added an empty-netter to seal the win, while Callum Creig turned aside 21 shots.
The Terriers now advance to the semifinal round, where they will meet the Battlefords North Stars. Game 1 is set for Friday at Westland Arena, with Yorkton holding home-ice advantage.
Elsewhere Monday, the Weyburn Red Wings also punched their ticket to round two, defeating the Nipawin Hawks 5–2 to take their series in six games.
Rylan Pearce led the way with two goals and two assists, while Josh Sale added a goal and three helpers in a four-point performance. Roan Burgess and Adam Savage Keller also scored for Weyburn.
Finley Radloff and Noah Heinrich replied for Nipawin.
The Red Wings now move on to face the Flin Flon Bombers in a rematch of the 2025 SJHL Final, with Game 1 scheduled for Friday night at the Whitney Forum.
