REGINA — Regina’s executive committee will consider two key agenda items Wednesday, April 1.
Integrity commissioner report
The City of Regina has received its annual report from the integrity commissioner.
An integrity commissioner is an independent officer investigating and adjudicating potential violations of the city’s code of ethics bylaw, which applies to members of council.
In 2025, the integrity commissioner received 20 informal complaints.
Of those 20 complaints, the integrity commissioner investigated one, but no violations were found in accordance with the code of ethics.
Waste plan
New methods of diverting waste from the city’s landfill are helping extend its lifetime, according to a report.
The city says its landfill is now projected to close by 2053, three years later than the previous date of 2050.
Regina has seen its waste diversion rate increase from 20 per cent to 40 per cent from a new user-pay system for waste service introduced in 2024.
“This system creates a direct link between the amount of garbage produced by a household and what is paid for waste services. Households that produce less garbage pay less. Since 2023, over 17,500 households have downsized their garbage cart.”
In 2023, the city also introduced residential food and yard waste services, helping citizens sort waste more easily.
