The Saskatchewan Roughriders have bolstered their special teams unit with the addition of a CFL veteran.
The club announced Monday it has signed national long snapper Aaron Crawford, bringing in one of the league’s most experienced specialists ahead of the upcoming season.
Crawford, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound native of Medicine Hat, Alta., brings 13 years of CFL experience to Saskatchewan. The 33-year-old spent the past five seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, appearing in 68 regular-season games from 2021 through 2025.
During his time in Calgary, Crawford recorded 16 special teams tackles and one defensive tackle, while earning recognition as the CFLPA’s all-star long snapper in 2022.
Originally selected by the Toronto Argonauts in the sixth round, 40th overall, in the 2012 CFL Draft, Crawford has built an extensive CFL resume. He has previously spent time with Toronto, Saskatchewan and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before settling in with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, where he played seven seasons from 2013 to 2020.
Over his career, Crawford has appeared in 166 regular-season games, along with 10 playoff contests and two Grey Cup appearances. He has registered 39 special teams tackles and two defensive tackles.
The signing adds proven experience and stability to the Riders’ special teams group as training camp preparations continue.
